Does Your Retirement Dream Involve a Ukulele?

Ukulele for Dummies

Start planning your retirement now--whether you're in your 20s or your 60s, you can learn something--and have some fun--with Fresh City Life My Branch this week!

Get a better idea of the financial planning side of retirement on Tuesday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ross-University Hills Branch with Social Security and Retirement: What You Need to Know. Bring your questions about your future Social Security benefits, and Social Security Administration representative Mike Baksa will answer them. Learn how to estimate your benefit, if there is a "best age" to start receiving benefits, and whether you can work and receive benefits at the same time. A representative of Waddell and Reed, Financial Advisors, will also be available to show you what to do now to avoid overpaying taxes and to protect yourself against inflation and medical expenses during retirement. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to kyllaubenstein@gmail.com or 303-819-2845.

Or maybe you'd like to learn a new skill to practice now or in your retirement! This week starts the 4-week series, Learn to Play the Ukulele in a Month, every Wednesday in October at 6:00 p.m. at the Smiley Branch. DPL librarian and ukulele player extraordinaire Dana Richardson will show you how to play this 4-chord wonder of an instrument. Bring your own uke if you have one, and by the end of the month you know how to play basic chords, songs, and be the life of any party!
