Books for a Rainy Day

It's Raining, It's Pouring... it's a good day to stay in, and curl up with a good book. I think a good rainy day book transports you to another place and captures your imagination from the first page.

My Top Five Books for a Rainy Day

  1. Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
  2. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
  3. The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
  4. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  5. The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett

Not to mention all the great how-to and craft books that keep me busy when it's too wet to go outside and play. (Does anyone else think of The Cat in the Hat on rainy days or is it just me?) Celebrity librarian Nancy Pearl lists her rainy day favorites on NPR.

Love this list! I've actually read all of those, though I had to read the description for The Uncommon Reader before I remembered it. I tend to think of Jane Eyre and reading in the window seat as the rain falls. Anything English: Bronte, or English cozy mysteries, etc.
