Be Creepy! Learn how to write scary stories that really scare

Sometimes the passages we like to read most are the hardest ones to write- especially those stories that make your palms sweat, your hackles rise and your pupils dialate. I'm talking about scary stories!  This October we're proud to welcome author Mario Acevedo to Fresh City Life for

October's WordShop: Boo! Scary Stories that Really Scare, where you'll learn how to write scenes filled with tension, action and passion.

Acevedo is one of Denver's best authors- if you haven't read any of the Felix Gomez private eye series, you're missing out on the adventures of the wise-cracking, motorcycle-riding, weapon-wielding vampire Chicano detective that fights werewolves, zombies, other vampires and even nymphomaniacs.  The series is set in Denver, often in the West and North side neighborhoods, and Acevedo has packed each book with equal parts thriller, mystery, horror and satire.  If you want to learn to write scary scenes on par with Acevedo, register for Fresh City Life's October WordShop: Boo! Scary Stories that Really Scare. Tuesdays October 5 and 19 from 6-7:30 in the Fresh City Lounge.  He'll also be selling and signing the latest book in the series, Werewolf Smackdown.
