Author Series: Jewell Parker Rhodes Visits Schlessman

Recent Coretta Scott King Honor Book Award winner for her children's novel Ninth Ward, Jewell Parker Rhodes will be speaking at the Schlessman Family Branch on Saturday, February 26, at 2 p.m.

Ms. Rhodes is the author of the Parent's Choice Gold Award winner and Today Show Al Roker Book Club selection Ninth Ward, a children's book set in New Orleans before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina. This story of resilience, love, and transformation is a wonderful book for the whole family to read and discuss together. Ms. Rhodes has also written adult books, including the Marie Laveau mysteries and Free Within Ourselves: Fiction Lessons for Black Authors.
