Computers and Equipment — All Locations

All Denver Public Library card holders are allowed 2 hours per day on the public access computers. The following equipment and services are available at all Denver Public Library locations:

  • Public access computers — CD/DVD drive, USB ports, audio jacks. Software includes:
    • Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access)
    • iTunes and Windows Media Player
  • Scanner (Black and White) — free, sends PDF to email
  • Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) for all wireless capable devices, no password or library card required
  • Internet access via multiple browsers — please read our Internet Filtering FAQ
  • There are no public fax machines at any Denver Public Library location

Community Technology Center — Level 4

  • 127 public access computers
  • Trained technology staff
  • Services for Persons with Disabilities — 2 ADA computers with ZoomText, Jaws and other adaptive software
  • Photocopier — 10 cents per page
  • Printers — 10 cents per black and white page, 50 cents per color page
  • In-library rental of USB cords, card readers and floppy drives with photo ID
  • Headphones and flash drives for sale — $1 for headphones, $5 for 4GB USB flash drive
  • ideaLAB — teen space for digital creation and has computers and a lot of creative software available for teens to use

Children's Library — Level 1

  • 14 Internet Children's PCs
  • 4 Early literacy computers with learning software for kids age 2-7
  • Parent laptop checkout program — Eligible parents or guardians accompanied by a child can check out laptops from the Children’s Library for two hours in-library use. To check out a laptop you must:
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be accompanied by a child
    • Have a DPL card in good standing
    • Have a photo ID

Reference Department — Level 3

  • 4 database PCs with USB capacity
  • 1 PubWest PC
  • 1 microfiche and microfilm reader with email, USB and printing capacity
  • 2 black and white photocopiers
  • 1 color photocopier
  • 1 binder minder copier
  • Headphones and flash drives for sale — $1 for headphones, $5 for 4GB USB flash drive

Western History/Genealogy — Level 5

  • 6 microfilm & microfiche scanners with USB and email capacity
  • 3 research PCs
  • 2 catalog PCs
  • A/V room to watch Western History/Genealogy DVDs and VHS, listen to 8-tracks, audio cassettes, records and watch reel-to-reel footage
  • 4 black and white photocopiers
  • Camera stand to photograph Western History/Genealogy materials
