Do you want to read the same book as all your friends this summer, and then meet the author to talk about it? The exciting title and author will be announced on June 17. Join us at the Library for a lively discussion about the book with the author and your friends.

This month we will be reading: Dog Diaries: Buddy, by Kate Klimo
We will discuss the book, Dog Diaries: Buddy, a historical fiction story told from the point of view of a seeing eye dog, from 3:30 to 4pm and will be joined at 4pm with a guest speaker and Canine Ambassador from the Canine Partners of the Rockies (CaPR). Parents and siblings are invited to join us at 4pm.

Science Matters - Crazy Carbon Dioxide

We need carbon dioxide to live. Plants use it to make oxygen. Carbon dioxide is all around us. In this assembly we will explore the main phases of carbon dioxide, dry ice and bubble/fizzy CO2 gas bubbles. We will experiment with dry ice, Alka-Seltzer, Mentos and Diet Coke, and make a lava lamp, a tower of changing colors, fog filled dry ice bubbles and more. Limited to 60 participants. ​Tickets will be distributed at the Ask Desk starting one hour prior to the program (5:30 p.m.).

Captain Vic - Scientific Bubble Blowing

Yes, there really are scientific secrets to blowing bubbles, and we will all learn about them as we blow bubbles smaller than peas and then larger than basketballs. We will also master blowing bubbles inside of other bubbles and even make some special bubbles creations by using teamwork. Everyone will also learn how to make their very own bubble solution using common chemicals. No registration is required.

Connie Elstun’s Super Science Magic Show

Spend an hour with Connie and some members of her hilarious cast as she teaches you how they found out Science is Magic and Magic is Science. This popular program includes incredible magic and hands-on learning. All supplies are provided and the laughter is free. Good for all ages. No registration is required.

Captain Vic - The Science of Flight

This is the ultimate class on the basics of flight! Being a former helicopter pilot himself, Captain Vic has a great love for all flying things and it shows in this program. There are many different types of flying machines, some are lighter than air, some are heavier than air. Some are powered, and some are not, but they all face one similar problem, how to overcome the force of gravity. In this class we will discover how man learned to do this through observation, experimentation, and trial and error.

Wild Wings Environmental Education - Raptors of the Rockies

In this interactive program, we explore the tools and adaptations that different raptors use to be successful in the wild. The program features live birds - a hawk, an owl, and a falcon - all species that are found here in Colorado. This program concludes with a discussion on the important roles of these raptors in the environment. No registration is required.
