Flash mobs are a hugely guarded secret, so please don’t mention this to anyone. In celebration of the Denver Art Museum's Untitled event for October, we’re bringing an accordion concert of epic proportions. Since this Untitled is called Shady, we decided that nothing could be as shady as an accordion flash mob. Enjoy the spectacle and sounds of this rare occurrence and hang out at the art museum for a memorable Friday night. General admission for Untitled events is $10 and the Fresh City Life offering is free with admission. For more details, please visit collective.denverartmuseum.org.
Famed for his fabulous Bette Davis impersonation, Matthew Martin first dazzled Denver audiences with his evening of Bette hosting a special presentation of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. Matthew is back and won’t be satisfied until he’s made his tribute to every dead diva he can. All Singing, All Dancing, All Dead! is a tour de force evening of non-stop musical and comedy entertainment. Along with Ms. Davis, Martin will also be conjuring up screen idols Katharine Hepburn, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, and even the tap-dancing goddess Ann Miller.
The Petite Chanteuse has been dazzling international audiences with her lively music presentations and smoked-crystal singing voice. Her songlist is inspired and has a decidedly French café vibe – highlighting classics like La Vie En Rose and Mon Homme. She’ll also serenade our audience with some of her favorite songs in Spanish. Join us for a vocal concert that will delight. http://denverlibrary.org/fresh#jadore
The phrase ‘avant-garde’ is overused and has lost its meaning. If you’d care to be reminded of what this phrase truly means, catch Helen Gillet’s encore concert at Denver Public Library. She performed here last year, and brought the house down. We are lucky to host her again this summer while she travels and performs around the country.
