Colorado violinist Sandra Wong returns to Denver Public Library for this solo concert. No musician makes a violin weep like Sandra Wong; similarly she makes them laugh as well. Bringing a touch of wistfulness to all of her music, Wong will make the great hall ring with joyful noise. Fresh City Life is proud to present this very special solo violin and nyckelharpa concert.

Sandra Wong and Greg Harris come together in a dynamic combination of nyckelharpa/fiddle and vibraphone/piano/ghanian gyil/world hand percussion to explore music from all corners of the globe, including their own compositions.
Reaching into their individual roots of Classical, African, Bluegrass, Jazz, Scandinavian, Middle-eastern, Old-time American music and more, their arrangements honor each tradition while moving into new, unchartered territory. Sandra and Greg create a musical playground for everyone (both musicians and listeners) to explore, play, stretch, and grow in a joyful space.

Musicians Joseph Lukasik and Eyal Rivlin explore the Yiddish folk music that became an important form of expression for Jewish immigrants coming to the United States from 1880 through the 1920s. The sound of Klezmer music is meant to mimic human vocalizations from talking and laughing to mournful crying. It’s evocative of Old World celebrations and a treat to hear.

APQ (Astor Piazzolla Quintet) was recently dubbed the Number-One-Not-To-Be-Missed group at the 2012 Houston International Festival. APQ has been stunning audiences in Austin and beyond since 2009. Featuring some of the finest talent on the Austin music scene today, APQ specializes in the intense and passionate compositions of the late Astor Piazzolla. In addition to Piazzolla's compositions, the group continues in the Nuevo Tango tradition with unique arrangements of Piazzolla's classic works, talented improvisations, and breathtaking original compositions.

Featuring Chris ‘Citrus’ Sauthoff and Dustin Adams. When George Harrison and The Beatles befriended Ravi Shankar, the traditional instrument of classical Indian music, the sitar, was embraced by American audiences. It is often heard in world music; its sympathetic tones marrying well with a wide range of musical genres. Chris ‘Citrus’ Sauthoff brings his signature style to the sitar – the soul of traditional Indian music. Dustin Adams adds in the heartbeat with the syncopated rhythm of the tabla. Enjoy the poetry and lyricism of these two perfectly paired instruments.
