Fresh City Life is heralding the New Year with a lively concert in our great hall. Think of Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, and you’re almost there! Place the influence of Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman, Bix Beiderbecke, Professor Longhair, and Louis Jordan in a big mixing bowl, and you have the “gumbo” of Fat City Mardi Gras Band. While maintaining an authentic down-home sound, this group has received critical acclaim for their musical prowess. Get your wiggle on with a little Fat City Mardi Gras Band hot sauce.
The beauty of snowfall, the introspective gloom of gray days, the quiet of a forest, the bareness of trees, the longing for life to be renewed are all captured in great works by Antonio Vivaldi, Jean-Baptiste Lully, Peter Tchaikovsky, Claude Debussy, Franz Schubert and others (including Paul Simon!). We'll sample a number of these, so be sure to bundle up! Active Minds®: expanding lives and minds with community-based educational programs.
