The story of chocolate is a "rich" tale indeed. It involves aristocracy and slavery, innovation and coincidence. Pivotal roles were played by both Christopher Columbus and Hernando Cortez. We will describe how extremely bitter cacao beans are transformed into one of the world's most sough after flavors and tell chocolate stories such as the rise of the luxury chocolate industry in Switzerland and the origins of the Hershey company.

Local, Pulitzer Prize winning author Jerry Cleveland explores how the modern bicycle attracted the attention of forward-thinking military commanders worldwide by using cutting edge technology and design when it was developed. Although eventually overshadowed by such legendary transporters as the jeep, "deuce and a half," C-47 Dakota and LST, the bicycle nevertheless played an important role. Inexpensive, efficient, and easy to maintain, bicycles are still in use in some military units.
