Workshop participants will engage in an in-depth look at the Freedom Rides and learn more about southern segregation laws and models of political resistance during the civil rights movement. Special guest Ernest “Rip” Patton, Jr. will share his experiences as a participant in the May 24 Greyhound Freedom Ride which resulted in his imprisonment in Mississippi's Parchman State Penitentiary. Learn about the rich military history of Denver's two oldest cemeteries, Fairmount and Riverside, going all the way back to the Civil War, including eight Medal of Honor recipients, the Spanish-American War, and Nisei. Bring an unopened toiletry item to be donated to the Denver Veteran's Hospital for veterans in need. The Colorado Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists (CAPG) was formed in 1991 to promote and support the objectives of the Association of Professional Genealogists in the State of Colorado. CAPG also provides a forum for exchange of information and ideas among professional genealogists who reside in the State of Colorado.
