African American Women have played a role in every war effort in United States history. Sisters, Soldiers examines the past and present military service of black women, from the Civil War to the War on Terror. Placing black women as soldiers within a broad historical context, the exhibition highlights the impact of race and gender issues on military service as well as the "breakthrough" moments in the history of that service.

This exhibition was created by the Reginald F. Lewis Museum.

The Way We Worked, explores how work became such a central element in American culture by tracing the many changes that affect the workforce and work environments over the past 150 years. The exhibition draws from the National Archives’ rich collection to tell this compelling story. In addition, the exhibit will feature four local Get the Inside Story audio recordings highlighting businesses in the historic Five Points neighborhood.
