Gregory Hill was raised in Joes, Colorado and currently lives in Denver where he writes, makes music, and, in his spare time, is a worker bee at the DU library. Time magazine critic Lev Grossman says of Hill's debut novel, East of Denver: "This is writing on par with that of top-flight black-comic novelists like Sam Lipsyte and Jess Walter, and it deserves to be read."

National award winning author Loren will read from her novel Theft and her essay collection Animal, Mineral, Radical: Essays on Wildlife, Family, and Food. Topics include crossovers and differences in writing fiction and creative nonfiction, then on to an open discussion. Loren's readings have been called "wildly refreshing, heartbreaking and hilarious, but always full of heart."

Dr. Jon Kedrowski: Climb Your Own Everest

Join Dr. Kedrowski, acclaimed author, world-class mountaineer, and Everest summitter, as he shares tales of his journeys. On May 26, 2012, Kedrowski summitted Everest after having to turn around only 800 feet from the summit because of a terrible storm on May 20. The storm was the 2nd deadliest in Everest history, claiming seven lives in one night.

Mountain geographer Dr. Jon Kedrowski will talk about climbing the summits of each of Colorado's 55 14ers, and also about his experience reaching the summit of Mt. Everest in May 2012, a week after the 2nd deadliest day in Everest history. Highlights include: teamwork, taking risks, and climbing the proverbial mountain of life.

Born in Pabianice, Poland in 1929, Jack Adler and his family were swept into the terror of the Nazi concentration camps. His parents and four siblings all perished at the hands of the Nazis. In his powerful and inspiring firsthand account, Y: A Holocaust Narrative, Jack (Yacob) tells his story and describes his struggle to survive, overcome and regain a sense of joy about being alive. Always warm and gracious, Adler will share readings from his book as well as take questions and engage in dialogue with the audience. Book signing to follow.
