Gallagher will show slides and tell stories from her newly-released book Colorado Forts: Historic Outposts on the Wild Frontier. Her talk will focus on the early pioneers who built the trading posts and military camps along the Front Range--frontier forts that shaped Colorado's future. Hear about the fur trade wars along the South Platte River, the rush to build military installations during the Civil War, and the stockades that citizens slapped together during an Indian scare.
