The Ludlow Massacre, Poetry and History: A special National Poetry Month reading with Colorado Poet Laureate David Mason

David Mason was nominated as Colorado's poet laureate in 2010, one of only six poets to fill this position Mason is nearly done with his four year stint. A writer and professor out of Colorado Springs, Mason's books of poems include The Buried Houses (winner of the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize), The Country I Remember (winner of the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award), and Arrivals. His verse novel, Ludlow, was published on 2007, and named best poetry book of the year by the Contemporary Poetry Review and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Sherry Ray: Finding Traction: Recapture Your Drive at Work

For the past 11 years, Sherry Ray has been a motivational speaker and certified business/life coach. She has coached a variety of people, from CEOs to the NFL alumni- anyone looking to decrease conflict and achieve balance and happiness in their lives. Her book not only chronicles her experiences working with people in corporate America, it delves into the issues that make people unhappy or "burned out" on the job and presents methods for helping them find happiness and motivation. Books will be available for sale.

Teen Book Club

A reading group for teens in grades 6-12 that meets to talk about books, eat snacks, play games, and have some laughs. Bring your friends! Help us think up a better name for our book club!

Next meeting: Wednesday, May 21, 4:30 p.m.
We’ll eat, talk about "Battle Royale" by Koshun Takami (including a comparison to "The Hunger Games" books and a movie clip!), and take home the book to read for June.
