Take a Saturday morning stroll with expert photographer Amy Wright while you photograph downtown details. Amy, who is currently working on a book of her photos recording several trips to India, will talk to you about how to look for the perfect photo, how to crop as you walk to find the details that make urban photos special. Must have a comfortable working knowledge of your digital camera or camera phone. We’ll meet for a morning brew of your choice, Amy will share tips and techniques with you and then we’ll hit the street for some walking and photography.
There hasn’t been a British television show like Downton Abbey since the 1970s series Upstairs, Downstairs. Both are similar in their depiction of the chasm between the ruling class and the servant class. And both inspired contemporary fashion trends. Our Downton workshop focuses on a stunning cloche hat with a low brim that distinctively frames the face. Along with this accessory, students will create a neck shawl that can be worn as an adornment or as a soft, warm scarf in cooler weather. Both are timeless pieces for autumn dressing. No beginning students please.
Talented Art Students League of Denver faculty member Jo Fitsell will offer adults, parents, and children a demonstration of the art of batik. These workshops are an excellent way for the community to meet local artists and gain insight into their success. Take advantage of this great opportunity to observe artists that will inspire you to tackle your own challenges and obstacles with your own goals while creating your own art. Free materials are available throughout the month for use.
