Premiere Reads: Fantasy & Science Fiction

Explore new worlds and civilizations with science fiction and fantasy reads, including Hugo and Nebula award winners, that are out of this world! We will be discussing these great genres and premiere reads on Wednesday, September 29 at 6 p.m. at the Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library.

While we can discuss any Science Fiction or Fantasy title, I will also be sharing my favorites. A quick overview of the genre will include defining subgenres like Steampunk, Cyberpunk, Space Operas, and Urban Fantasy.

Join Jane Diamond of Memory, Magic and More to hear stories that will lead you to create your own "Freedom Note Paper" design on Saturday, September 25 at 10 a.m. for session #1 and Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m. for session #2 at the Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library.

In two sessions, participants will create and send a personalized package to our military troops plus leave with a package of their own designed note paper.

Psychologist and author Dr. Jacqueline Simon Gunn discusses what it's like to be In the Therapist's Chair on Wednesday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ross-Cherry Creek Branch Library. The evening will include a discussion, Q&A and signing of Dr. Gunn's new book.

 

If you've ever been curious about how psychotherapy works, join the discussion with Dr. Jacqueline Simon Gunn. As a trained Psychologist, Dr. Gunn demystifies the role of the therapist and reveals the thought process, conflicts and doubts occurring within the trained expert whom you've turned to for help.

Have you ever been curious about what a therapist's thoughts are while she is sitting with a patient? Do therapists feel emotions during session? What are they really thinking? How do therapists choose what personal information to share with their patients?

Being read to is a rare pleasure. It not only stimulates the mind, but invigorates the imagination. Bring your lunch, a friend, and/or a pillow to this unique event.
