The Marriage of Boba Fett and Strawberry Shortcake: Fashion designer Tina Berger-Everroad meets Marcel Proust

Design by Tina Berger-Everroad

Fresh City Life asked fashion designer Tina Berger-Everroad to answer our questionnaire and found out that Tina carries some very designer baggage.

In the weeks leading up to our fashion spectacle Frock Out, each of our twelve designers will be featured here with their responses to the infamous Proust Questionnaire. Marcel Proust (1871-1922), French novelist, critic and essayist, believed that people must know and understand themselves before they can know or understand others.

Bette Davis Film Causes Spontaneous Kindness*

A recent, wholly unscientific study shows that 9 out of 10 acts of kindness can lead to a chain reaction of kindnesses. Even Bette Davis films can cause random acts of kindness. Witness:

On Tuesday, November 16, the Crossroads Theatre, in partnership with Fresh City Life, will be hosting a free film night. It's our monthly KnitFlix, so we'll have an area for knitters with good light, but we're also inviting non-crafters to join us for this film showing. And we're asking everyone to bring a food item or toiletries for donation to Urban Peak, the orgnaization that helps homeless youth and youth at risk of being homeless.

The Night Mondo Guerra Kissed Me*

*Okay, Mondo didn't kiss me, but it was still a thrill.

I met Mondo Guerra last night for the second time. We met three years ago when he came to the open call for designers for our first runway competition Frock Out. He was already designing with panache and he was juried in as one of our twelve designers. I remember him as funny, self-effacing and joyful. Circumstances and life interfered and Mondo wasn't able to participate in Frock Out. I'm not sure if any of us knew then what we missed out on.

The Phantom of Crossroads Theatre: Singer Marta Burton brings a little illumination to Five Points

Cover art for a 1920 edition of Phantom of the Opera

Crossroads Theatre hosts Marta Burton and Nick Rossi in Dark Duets- The Phantom of the Opera.

The first time I saw The Phantom of the Opera, I was entranced with everything about the production -- from the costumes to the staging. But it was the music, so dark and dreamy, that lingered long after the curtain fell. Fresh City Life has got a special treat for your Halloween goodie bag: a special FREE concert with Denver's premier chanteuse Marta Burton performing with her 'phantom,' Nick Rossi at Denver's beautiful Crossroads Theatre.

The books in the Wind River series do not have to be read in order.
