Fresh City Life is proud to present this very special violin concert: Kailin Yong makes music with the intention of promoting peace and building cultural bridges. Born and raised in Singapore, trained at the Vienna Academy of Music, Kailin has dedicated the last ten years of his life to exploring folk music from around the world and finding commonality amidst cultural differences. He was the recipient of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin for his work to foster peace and cross-cultural understanding in the world.

Trained in the Emerald Isle, Chef Jess is a passionate advocate for the foods, recipes and traditions of the Irish. Expert Chef Amy Hoyt is demonstrating a gem from the 70s and 80s: Monkey Bread. The origins of this bread are uncertain – but it is a true American original and is virtually unknown outside of the United States.

Gates Western History Reading Room - Level 5

This exhibit is open during Central Library open hours. "Personal Geographies" is an exhibit of handmade, mixed media maps by Jill K. Berry and other artists. The show is in Western History and Genealogy, on the 5th floor of the Central Library through March 31, 2012.
