Invented in China, but popularized by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440, moveable type was like the internet for the 15th century, allowing widespread reproduction of printed materials like books, announcements, and advertising. Today, it is taking shape in a printer with a mobile letterpress studio traveling cross country showing the art of letterpress printing. Join us on March 16, 2013 at Ross-Barnum (from 10-12am) and Woodbury (from 2-4pm) branch libraries to learn more about the tradition and craft of printing presented by Kyle Durrie and take home a print or two afterward!
