The Legend of the Seeker: The Complete First Season The Legend of the Seeker: The Complete First Season
by Terry Goodkind

Based on the popular fantasy series by Terry Goodkind called "The Sword of Truth." Fans of the book series will enjoy seeing these characters come to life, while those new to the series will be drawn in to this fantastical realm. The story follows a young farmhand with a destiny he never could have imagined. With the help of a grizzly old wizard and a young woman with mysterious powers, he must defeat Darken Rahl and stop his evil onslaught.

The Brothers Bloom The Brothers Bloom
by Rian Johnson

If you are looking for a comedic romp with surprising twists and a lot of heart, The Brothers Bloom is the movie for you. Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody are two down-and-out brothers who dream and scheme big. Armed with little more than their wits and imaginations, they decide to go for one last big score but they have no idea what they are in for. Timeless in its storyline and fashion, this film has a wide appeal. As one who has seen many movies, it's hard to surprise me - but this movie blew me and my suppositions away.

Important Things with Demetri Martin Season One Important Things with Demetri Martin Season One
by Demetri Martin

Calling all fans of Kids in the Hall and Mr Show! The kooky, philosopher of the obvious, sense of humor that Demetri Martin employs in his new show will have you rolling on the floor! Fans of the Daily Show will recognize him and his simple but humorous drawings! With jokes, songs, sketches and even animated segments, this is an easy recommendation for anyone with a slightly skewed sense of humor.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency: The Complete First Season. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency: The Complete First Season.
by Tim Bricknell

Even those that have never read the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith will enjoy this lighthearted mystery series starring Jill Scott. Combining indefatigable sass and ladylike charm, Precious Ramotswe is a force to be reckoned with! Set in beautiful Botswana, this is an excellent beginning to what is sure to be a great television series.

Gigantic Gigantic

Occasionally a beautiful movie comes along and you are so besotted with the characters and the stories you don't even care that it is a romance. Gigantic is such a film. While the main plot may be "boy meets girl" there are elements of achieving your dream, the wonderful hideousness of family and a mesmerizing self exploration about what we want in life. This may sound like a dramatic film, but amazingly it's not. I can't say it's "hilarious" because it's more subtle and deep than that, but you will be pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it is. The dialogue in particular is stunning. If you like quirky romantic comedies without a lot of melodrama, this is a film not to be missed.

John From Cincinnati John From Cincinnati
by David Milch & Kem Nunn

I've watched this twice and I'm still not sure what happened on this show, but I am sure that I enjoyed every minute of it. While the show takes places in Imperial Beach, CA and features a great deal of surfing, this show is not about surfing. The star-studded cast of Rebecca De Mornay, Ed O'Neill, Luke Perry and many other familiar faces, all commit to stellar performances. The writing, some done by Joss Whedon's brother, Zac, is Shakespearean at times in its beauty and unique construction. It reminds me of a heady mix of Twin Peaks, LOST and Highway to Heaven.

The Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians through Film The Hollywood Librarian: A Look at Librarians through Film
by Ann Seidl

It should come as no surprise that a librarian is gonna love a movie about librarians in film. Here's why I think you (the non-librarian) might like it too: for a documentary, it is a lot of fun. There are many movie clips in here that are amazingly rare and a pleasure to watch. Through these images, the role and stereotypes around libraries and librarians are explored. You may even recognize several local librarians featured in this film! This labor of love will have you rushing to the library for entertainment and information!

The Last Templar The Last Templar
by Mira Sorvino

Based on the novel by Raymond Khoury, this made for TV movie is surprisingly good. If you liked National Treasure, Indiana Jones, The Da Vinci Code and Tomb Raider give this one a try. Mira Sorvino plays a Milano Blahnik loving archaeologist who is determined to discover the truth behind the theft of an ancient Templar decoder. With the help (and some hindrance) of an FBI agent played by Scott Foley, the pair ends up on the far side of the globe with a bigger secret than they bargained for. I was overwhelmingly impressed that Mira Sorvino portrayed such a brainy beauty. Keep in mind that this was made for TV (it is a whopping 170 minutes long) and enjoy the ride!

Looking for a thrilling action movie for Father's Day? This would be my pick! Liam Neeson plays an ex-CIA agent who is trying to reconnect with his estranged family. While his daughter is on a European vacation, she is kidnapped - so it's Daddy to the rescue and he is back in the killing business. One to watch after the kids go to bed, but definitely an exciting role for Liam Neeson.
