Facebook

There’s so much more to Facebook than simply where to click and who to friend. Almost since its inception, Facebook has been criticized for its lax privacy stance. Someone (Mark Zuckerberg?) must have taken the criticism to heart because the recent Facebook privacy changes have

given users more control than ever before over Who Sees What, and how users can guard themselves against unwanted Sharing. We’ve put together an entire class called Facebook: Privacy and Security, dedicated exclusively to learning about what you can do to be as protected as possible and still enjoy socializing* on the biggest social network the world has ever seen. This class will become a monthly regular in the Community Technology Center’s offerings- catch the first one on January 24 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the CTC, Level 4 of the Central Denver Public Library.

And then there’s Facebook Business Pages. As a free marketing tool for small businesses, non-profits and entrepreneurs, Facebook’s power is unrivaled. Fan Pages are an amazing way to build support for your business, engage directly with your fan base and get useful statistics on the people who like you. Our new Facebook: Business Pages class will teach you the mechanics of creating and running a Page, as well as some of the finer points of Facebook marketing. This class will also be offered monthly at the CTC- join us for the first one on Thursday, January 17 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Oh, and if you just want to learn how to use your personal Facebook account, or want to find out what this whole thing called Facebook is even about, come to Facebook 101, a monthly class that covers all the nuts & bolts of personal Facebook usage. That's Thursday, January 10 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

All classes are free & open to the public- no registration required! Come a few minutes early to get a good seat.
