New eMedia Feature: Recommend for library purchase or buy it now

In the eMedia catalog, after performing a search or choosing a subject, select “Additional titles” to search or browse the complete collection of eBooks and audio eBooks available for the library to purchase. You can recommend up to 30 titles per year for the library to purchase.

If a title is not listed in “Available titles” it is not available in digital format for libraries. When you recommend a title, you’ll be given the option to be placed on the hold list or to be notified that the title was purchased. At this time, we are unable to notify you if a recommendation is not purchased.

Use “Buy it Now” to purchase your own copy of an eBook or audio eBook you’d like to own, or don’t want to wait for. Any purchases made using a Buy it link from Denver Public Library’s eMedia site will support the library.

To request that the Library purchase or borrow materials in other formats, see Interlibrary Loan and Purchase Requests.

Comments

Please consider purchasing "Woodrow Wilson" by John Milton Cooper, Jr. as an ebook.

Thanks in advance for your consideration of my request.

To recommend eBooks or audio eBooks, start at the eBooks catalog at http://downloadmedia.denverlibrary.org. Search for the title you're interested in. If it's not there, we don't own it. Select Additional Titles to see if it's available for libraries to purchase. If it's there, click on the title and "Recommend."

I am writing in the hopes that you will add my new book, “In a Wolf’s Eyes” to your e-book circulation. It is an epic fantasy novel, and the publisher and the novel are approved for libraries throughout the world. My author name is A. Katie Rose and the publisher is Untreed Reads Publishing, located in San Francisco, California, USA. The book costs $4.99, and was published on April 27, 2012. As it’s an e-book, it can be found in all formats at Untreedreads.com, and Overdrive.com. It is also available on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com as well as many other e-book selling sites. You may contact the editor, Mr. Jay Hartman, at jhartman@untreedreads.com if you wish further information.

I also wish to add that though I live in Texas now, I am a Colorado native and grew up in Northglenn and went to school in Gunnison at Western State College.

Thank you for your time in reading this request, and I sincerely hope you will purchase my novel for your library patrons.

Yours Sincerely,

A. Katie Rose

"In a Wolf's Eyes" is already in our eBook collection.

I am interested in the audio or eBook
Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss. Thanks for the awesome job DPL does with lending eMedia! DPL Rocks!

I'm a little unclear if there is another way to recommend a book or not... but I'd like to see the Robert Jordan series (Wheel of Time) available as an e-book - currently it is only available as an audiobook.

The Wheel of Time series is not available to libraries in the eBook format. Some publishers only make their books available in one format or the other (eBook or audio.) If you don't find the eBook listed under Additional Titles, then we can't get it.

Is there some way that a patron can buy a book for the library? If I buy an audio book, it sure would be nice to think that others might be able to enjoy it as well.

What a generous thought! Unfortunately, nothing about eMedia and libraries is that simple. When we buy downloadable books or audio books we are purchasing the "library rights" to loan the title out to our users so the pricing is often different. If you do ever want to make a donation to the library though our Friends Foundation would love to hear from you - www.dplfriends.org. Thanks for your comment and for being a library supporter.

I would appreciate when the author has a series, books be given a number so they can be listen to in order. Wouldn't be to tough, thanks
