Dave Chappelle in Denver

Chappelle's Show
Half Baked

Dave Chappelle has been in town performing his hilarious stand-up comedy at The Comedy Works since Tuesday, April 29 and will be here through Tuesday, May 6. I had the pleasure of seeing him last night at Comedy Works South. What was scheduled to be a two hour show turned into a four hour marathon lasting roughly from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.! Mr. Chappelle delighted his audiences and kept the crowd in stitches long past last call.

Topics covered were wide and varied, including his love for the television shows True Detective and Game of Thrones, celebrities in the news, the recent Mayweather fight that he attended on May 3, and other hot topics and audience suggestions. Hearing Mr. Chappelle say, "Hodor!," multiple times was highly entertaining, as was his teasing about how we all missed that evening's episode of Game of Thrones.

Referencing articles he'd read and documentaries he was fascinated with, Mr. Chappelle demonstrated his intelligence as much as his uproarious perspective on popular culture.

What were other audience member favorite moments from his recent shows?

I was in graduate school when his show first aired back in the early 2000s. I used to finish studying and race home to catch it. It was clever, well-thought out comedy that covered any and every topic. I think I remember reading somewhere that Mr. Chappelle grew up in a very well-read home-it shows!

What fun. I missed the Chappelle Show. Prince playing basketball against Charlie Murphy, then making pancakes was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Sounds like an amazing night!
