The best unknown actor in the world!

The best unknown actor in the world!
The best unknown actor in the world! I Saw The Devil Old Boy (2003) The best unknown actor in the world!

His name is Choi Min‑sik and hands down he has to be the best unknown actor in the world!

In South Korea, Choi Min‑sik is one of the top dogs in the film industry. But, when It comes to the United States, Europe, etc., his name is never even mentioned. What a shame! Choi Min‑sik has what we Americans like to call the "IT" factor.

He can play any role and make it legit; the raw emotions he brings are second to none and he can easily compete with the best of them.

Choi Min-sik is a South Korean actor best known for his role in the original Old Boy. He also has a list of very incredible films that can make you weep, cringe, smile, etc. If I had to compare his work to any known film star in the United States, I would definitely have to say a mixture of Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks. I am not kidding -- he is that good! But don't take my word for it; watch one of his films, and you will see why.

Let me make a few great recommendations for you:

I Saw The Devil

In my opinion, this is Choi Min‑sik's best film and should be on everybody's list of must see's! Absolute balls to the wall gore, suspense, and a masterpiece of horror. I Saw The Devil has to be one of the best revenge movies in the history of ever! Check it out and tell me what you think. Warning: this movie is very violent.

Old Boy
The original Old Boy movie is so good that the U.S film industry (Spike Lee) decided to make a U.S version. This is Choi Min‑sik's most highly praised role to date. I won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil this version or the U.S version. But, all I can say is you will be blown away!!!!! Must see.

Failan
The movie cover is very deceiving, two different people from two completely different backgrounds somehow fall in love without ever meeting, seeing, or speaking to each other!!! Very bizarre kind of romance film. Also, the underlying messages (of being accepted, being treated equally, and needing a break in life) in this film are so powerful. This is my second favorite film from Choi Min‑sik.

New World
In this recently released film, Choi Min‑sik plays a detective with some serious guts! Good cop? Bad cop?! Choi Min‑sik seriously makes you either like his method and applaud his efforts to capture bad guys, or he makes you hate him, hoping that he would stop playing with people's lives. His supporting act in this film is pretty remarkable!

A masterful actor. Check out his films and if you have any great unknown actors you would like to share, please do.
