ART SATURDAY at BYERS BRANCH LIBRARY

Mexican Sun and Moon June 15 at 2-4 p.m.

Do you like to… be creative? Be inspired by stories from around the world? Learn new words in Spanish? Try traditional foods?
I want to invite you, your family and your friends to our awesome ART SATURDAY program at Byers Branch Library on Saturday, June 15 from 2–4 p.m.

Surrounded by theaters, art galleries and museums, recording studios, antique shops, unique restaurants, and much more, Byers Branch Library is located in the heart of the Art District on Santa Fe. As a way to participate in this thriving creative community, Byers Branch Library has become an active member of the Art District on Santa Fe, a non-profit organization which is dedicated “to promoting public awareness of Santa Fe Drive as a unique art and cultural district, and furthering the arts and art education in the metropolitan community.”

In April of 2013 Byers Branch Library launched a program called ART SATURDAY in which we are working closely with our neighbors, the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) Gallery. CHAC Gallery features the art and culture of the vibrant Chicano/Latino community of Denver and the surrounding areas. ART SATURDAY is a monthly workshop led by artists from CHAC Gallery that provides an opportunity for our customers to connect with dedicated artists while learning about Latino/Chicano culture.

ART SATURDAY takes place every third Saturday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Byers Branch Library meeting room. The upcoming workshop is “Mexican Sun and Moon” in which we will tell stories from Aztec mythology and the artist will lead a workshop on how to make a clay sun or moon.
