Health Insurance
This optional benefit allows an employee to choose from one of the three providers; Denver Health, Kaiser Permanente or Aetna. Medical coverage is available to all permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week and can be taken by itself. Coverage begins the first day of the month following the hire date. The premium is shared by the employee and the Library.
Dental Insurance
This optional benefit allows an employee to choose from one of three plans offered through Delta Dental Plan of Colorado. Dental coverage is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week and can be taken by itself. Coverage begins the first day of the month following the hire date. The premium is shared by the employee and the Library.
Life Insurance
Basic life insurance is provided for permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Coverage begins on the first day of regular employment. The premium is paid by the Library. Additional life insurance is available for the employee, their spouse and/or their dependent(s) at the employees’ expense.
Flexible Spending Account (Discovery Benefits)
This optional benefit allows an employee to reduce their taxable income by directing pre-taxed dollars to pay for qualified medical expenses, dependent care expenses or qualified monthly parking. The Flexible Spending Account is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Discovery Benefits is the administrator for the Library.
Short-Term Disability
This optional benefit is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. It allows an employee to receive 70% of their weekly earnings (up to 25 weeks), in the event that they cannot work because of an illness or injury. The premium is paid by the employee.
Long-Term Disability
Long Term Disability is provided for permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Coverage begins six months after the first day of regular employment. The premium is paid by the Library. Long Term Disability becomes payable after an employee has become continuously disabled (as defined in the Group Policy) for 180 days. Employee will receive 60% of their monthly earnings minus deductible income.
Supplemental Vision Benefit (Superior Vision)
This optional benefit is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week and can be taken by itself. Coverage begins the first day of the month following the hire date. When using this benefit it can be combined with the health care provider’s coverage or used alone. The employee pays the premium. Superior Vision is the administrator for the Library.
Denver Employees Retirement Plan
Available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. The Library contributes 8.5% of an employee’s gross earnings and the employee is required to contribute 2.5% of their gross earnings each pay period into the retirement plan. An employee is fully vested in the city’s retirement plan after five years of regular employment and may draw benefits when they are eligible for retirement. Coverage begins on the first day of regular employment.
Deferred Compensation
This optional benefit is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week and can be taken by itself . Deferred Compensation is an additional way for an employee to save for retirement while reducing their taxable income. The employee may draw benefits when they are eligible for retirement. Employee can enroll at any time during the year. The Library has two administrators to choose from; ICMA RC or Cooney and Associates.
Pre-Paid Legal Services (Hyatt Legal)
This optional benefit is available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. It allows an employee to have unlimited access to legal services. The employee pays the premium. Hyatt Legal is the administrator for the Library.
Vacation Leave Benefit
Available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Employee will accrue one day of vacation leave each month. (Vacation leave increases at five, ten and fifteen years of employment.) Vacation leave earned rolls over year to year.
Sick Leave Benefit
Available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Employee will accrue one day of sick leave each month. Sick leave earned rolls over year to year.
Personal Day
Available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Employee will receive one personal day annually. Personal day must be used before the end of the year.
Holiday Pay
Available to permanent employees working 20 hours or more per week. Employee will receive ten paid holidays throughout the year.
