Library Commission Minutes

May 4 , 2006

The Denver Public Library Commission met in Special Session on Thursday, May 4, 2006, for the purpose of selection of a new City Librarian for the Denver Public Library.

Location: Library Commission Room, Denver Central Library, Level 7

Members Present: Fofi Mendez, Kevin O’Connor, Julie Rodriguez, Karen Rokala, Lois Ann Rovira, K.C. Veio, Sid Wilson.

Members Absent : Edward Schenck.

Staff present at Public Session: Gwendolyn Crenshaw, Michael Eitner, Elizabeth Elder, Letty Icolari, Cori Jackamore, Celeste Jackson, Michelle Jeske, Karen Kelly, Susan Kotarba, Elaine Langeberg, Rachelle Naishtut, Jim Pinamont, Jo Haight Sarling, Derek Wolfgram.

1. President K.C. Veio called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.
   
   
2. K.C. Veio convened the Commission in Executive Session concerning selection of a City Librarian.
   
   
3. Executive Session Discussion. The Commission discussed information pertaining to the hiring of a new City Librarian.
   
   
4. The public session was reconvened at 4:05 p.m. and the following actions were taken on matters discussed in Executive Session:
   
   Upon motion by Kevin O’Connor, seconded by Fofi Mendez, having conferred with the candidate, the Commission unanimously agreed to appoint Shirley Amore to the position of City Librarian at the Denver Public Library.
   
   The Commission then authorized Letty Icolari to draw up a Letter of Hire.
   


5. K.C. Veio adjourned the meeting at 4:10 p.m.
