The Denver Public Library Commission met in Special Session on Friday, January 6, 2006, for the purpose of selection of an executive search firm to provide consulting services for the City Librarian search.
Members Present: Fofi Mendez, Kevin O’Connor, Karen Rokala, Lois Ann Rovira, Edward Schenck, K.C. Veio, Sid Wilson.
Members Absent: Julie Rodriguez.
Staff: Letty Icolari.
- President K.C. Veio called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.
- K.C. Veio convened the Commission in Executive Session concerning Personnel Matters.
- The Library Commission interviewed representatives of three executive search firms:
- 9:00 a.m. Gossage Sager Associates LLC, Buffalo Grove, IL
- 10:00 a.m. Library Associates, Denver, CO and Beverly Hills, CA
- 11:00 a.m. Dubberly Garcia Associates, Inc., Denver, CO and Atlanta, GA
- Executive Session Discussion. The Commission discussed information gathered during the three interviews.
- The public session was reconvened and the following actions were taken on matters discussed in Executive Session.
- Upon motion by Kevin O’Connor, seconded by Lois Ann Rovira, the Library Commission approved the following motion:
- Having issued a Request for Proposals, the Denver Public Library Commission has reviewed written proposals and conducted interviews with executive search firms to assist the Commission in the search for the next City Librarian.
- The Commission unanimously selects Dubberly Garcia Associates, Inc. to provide the requested services, subject to a satisfactory check of their professional references.
- The Commission authorizes its President to enter into a contract with the selected firm, based on the firm’s written proposal and further information provided in the interview.
- K.C. Veio adjourned the meeting at 1:10 p.m.
